About Alberta Jewellery Industry Crime Watch
The Alberta Jewellery Industry Crime Watch is a crime prevention initiative to combat the
existing and potential threat posed to those in the jewellery industry
by the criminal use of jewellery. The A.J.I.C.W is operated in partnership by several organizations with a common interest in crime prevention. The A.J.I.C.W received funding to create the web site through Crime Prevention Grant provided by the Alberta Solicitor Generals and Public Security.
Providing knowledge and
awareness
of criminal activities and products being stolen within the jewellery
industry will help protect those who work in the jewellery industry.
The objectives of the Alberta Jewellery Industry Crime Watch are:
* to promote safety, security and crime prevention within the jewellery
industry
* to provide awareness to the jewellery industry of criminal activity
that has a direct relation to that industry
The Alberta Jewellery Industry Crime Watch delivers information
to the jewellery industry in a number of ways:
The Industry Fan Out System - Will fan
out information bulletins to crime watch members, updating them on
the most recent criminal
activity specific to jewellery stores within Alberta as well as crime
trends, criminal
techniques, and stolen jewellery that may surface at their jewellery
store. The fan out system will utilize internet email addresses
to forward the information to participants in the crime watch.
Web Site Postings - The A.J.I.C.W web site maintains a list of the most recent
Crime Bulletins that have been fanned out.
This will enable participants and the general public to view the
most recent bulletins.
The Jewellery Industry Security Seminars - These seminars provide
a forum to discuss criminal trends, security issues, and crime prevention
specific to jewellers. These one day seminars will promote police-community
partnerships in addressing both local and provincial crime prevention
needs.
